Common Questions Asked

Why choose LD Family Mediation?

LD Family Mediation is now being used successfully by more and more people who find it’s an alternative that’s far less stressful, costly and time consuming.

And, on top of that, LD Family Mediation can help you achieve an outcome in which everybody can win rather than, as sadly so often happens, everybody loses.

So, how does it work?

Well, for a start it isn’t about marriage guidance or counselling.

What LD Family Mediation is about is helping you both face up to the reality of moving on to the next phase of your own and your children’s lives. Quite simply, it helps you both make your own decisions about the practical issues facing you in a sensible and civilised way. It gives you the expert, impartial help of someone who’s trained to listen, understand and help you both reach your own decisions. Someone who will focus your attention on what’s important. Someone who will help guide you through the practical concerns you’ll have to face, and give you down-to-earth, understandable support on reaching an agreement that you both can live with.

Why is LD Family Mediation a better alternative?

You will both be making your own choices and agreements – and what that means is you can save a lot of money. You can get the whole thing sorted quickly. You can both get what is realistic. You can both move on.

  • You will be able to look to the future with more confidence – instead of being distracted by the past.
  • You will be making your own decisions instead of having them made for you by a Judge in court.
  • You can achieve sensible compromise instead of pointless conflict.
  • You can have civilised conversations instead of endless arguments.
  • You will not be bullied.

Then, with a written agreement between you, which you can discuss with your own solicitor and make legally binding if you wish, you should save time, money and stress levels.

Depending on your financial status, the whole matter could even be free.

Are you entitled to Free Mediation?

If you, or your partner who you live with, receive Income Support or Income-based Job Seeker's Allowance then you qualify automatically. If you do not qualify automatically,
then you may still be entitled to Free Mediation if your income and capital fall within certain financial limits. If you come and see us, we will be able to calculate whether you are financially eligible and entitled to Free Mediation.
